About Secouting En Espanol
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Jackson, Tennessee has a 70 year history of supporting Scouting. Until November 2007, it has been over 20 years since there had been a Boy Scout troop at St. Mary's. Cub Scout Pack 6 at St. Mary’s has been a strong group and can now supply members for a Boy Scout troop. We are part of the West Tennessee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Central District.
General Information
We meet most Monday nights 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Manor, but check our calendar for details.
Annual dues of $15 includes insurance. Uniforms and handbooks are available at the Council Scout Shop. Scholarships are available to cover dues, uniform, handbook, summer camp and some activity fees.
Uniform
The uniform makes the Scout Troop visible as a force of good and creates a positive image in the community. Boy Scouting is an action program, and wearing the uniform is an action that shows each Scouts' commitment to the aims and purpose of Scouting.
Official Uniform, Class A, is available at the Scout Shop at 1995 Hollywood Drive, Jackson, Tennessee Troop T-shirts for informal events are available for purchase through the Troop Committee.
Adult Leadership
The activities are conducted under the supervision of adult leadership consisting of Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters. The troop encourages all adult leaders to be trained. The troop follows BSA rules for 2-deep leadership and the Guide to Safe Scouting. Leaders are trained in Youth Protection, Safe Swim, Safety Afloat, Safe Climb, CPR, and First Aid. Adult participation is encouraged at all Scout activities. Adult leaders are also required to attend the diocese's Virtus Training for youth protection.
